Control4 4Sight Setup Guide This document is intended to provide step by step directions on how to configure 4Sight Internet Services, including remote access, in a customer’s home. It assumes that the Control4 system is programmed, and running properly but that no previous 4Sight setup has been done. This document also assumes that a PC with internet access and web browser is available to create a myControl4 account. 1 Obtain a 4Sight Subscription Kit 1 Year 4Sight Subscription 4Sight is a premium service provide by Control4. As such, it requires a subscription code to activate the service on a controller. Two types of subscriptions are currently offered by Control4. The first is a 90 day trial subscription. This is a fully functional subscription which, allows customers to activate 4Sight and use it for 90 days. After the 90 day trial period, this subscription will expire and a one year subscription must be purchased. The second subscription type is a one year subscription. This is the standard subscription sold to end users. It provides access to 4Sight for a period of 1 year before it needs to be renewed. Both subscription kits are obtained by contacting your control4 sales representative. The dealer then provides the subscription kits / activation codes to their end users. 2 Create a myControl4 Account A myControl4 account is required to register a customers system and activate 4Sight. The systems owner creates a myControl4 account by connecting to http://my.control4.com/ and registering their system. This is done by selecting “system registration” from the main webpage. On the registration page the end user fills their registration information and selects an account name. For this example we have created a myControl4 account called Fred_Geiger, with the appropriate email address and password as well as selected Control4 Employees as our dealer of record. Once we select “Submit Registration” and the user will automatically be taken to the “Subscription” page. On the subscription page, the end user enters the subscription code provided to them in the subscription kit or by his dealer. They then select “activate” and his system will be enabled for 4Sight Internet Services. 3 Configure Controllers The final step in configuring remote access is configuring the controller in the home to connect to the 4Sight service. This can be done from any graphical navigator in the system, including 10.5” wireless tablets, on-screen, and Mini Touch screens. The end user does this configuration from the “Info” section of Navigator. This section is entered into by selecting “Info” on the main screen. Once on the Info screen, the remote access page is access by selecting “Remote Access” from the top bar. On the remote access screen, with “Account Info” selected, the end user enters their myControl4 account information. This is done by selecting the field and then using the pop up keyboard to enter the information. The account information is the same as the user created in section 2 of this document. It is not the dealer information. The final step is to actually turn on remote access. This is done by selecting the “Remote Access” tab and selecting “Enabled”. At this point the controller will take several minutes and connect to the Control4, 4Sight servers. The connection status of 4Sight can also be monitored on the “Remote Access” navigator page. |
